Privacy
Pensile collects no data. Nothing you capture, pin or write leaves your Mac.
What Pensile keeps, and where
- Screenshots are saved as PNG files in the folder you choose (by default Pictures › Screenshots). They are yours, in your folder, and stay there when you remove them from the line.
- Sticky notes are plain text files in the same folder.
- Files you put on the line stay where they are. Pensile keeps a bookmark to each, so it can find them again after a restart; it never copies, moves or uploads them.
- Preferences, the order of the clips and their sizes are kept in the app's own settings on your Mac.
What Pensile does not do
- It sends nothing anywhere. The only connection it makes is to Apple's App Store, which handles the free trial and purchases; Pensile learns only what you own, never anything about you.
- It has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.
- It shares nothing with anyone, Apple included, beyond what macOS itself does for every app.
Screen Recording
macOS asks you to allow Screen Recording the first time you take a screenshot. Pensile uses it only to take the pictures you ask for, at the moment you ask for them.
