Getting started

• Pensile lives in the menu bar: look for the paper clip. It has no Dock icon.
• Press ⌘⇧2 to capture. The first time, macOS asks for Screen Recording permission: allow Pensile in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen & System Audio Recording, then press ⌘⇧2 again.
• Press ⌘⇧1 to spread the line out, gather it, or put it away.
• Drop files on the line, or right-click files in the Finder › Services › Add to Pensile.
• Menu bar icon › New Note writes a sticky note.

Common questions

The shortcut does nothing. Another app may use ⌘⇧2. Choose another in Pensile's Preferences.

Captures show only the desktop. Screen Recording permission is off. Turn it on for Pensile in System Settings, then quit and reopen Pensile.

Where are my screenshots? In Pictures › Screenshots, or the folder chosen in Preferences. Menu bar icon › Open Screenshots Folder shows it.

I'd rather the pictures didn't stay on top. Turn off Keep pins above other windows in Preferences. They come forward whenever you use Pensile.
